What we collect

Information you give us directly

• Email address, when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us. Used only to send content you signed up for and to reply to your message.
• Free-text feedback, when you email or submit a contact form. Used only to respond and, anonymously, to improve our coverage.

Information collected automatically

When you visit STRStack, we log:

• Standard request data: IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page.
• Product analytics events via PostHog — anonymous page views and outbound link clicks, including before you choose or if you decline optional analytics. Page views include the page path and referring domain, without URL query strings, fragments, or search terms. We use memory-only identifiers that reset on a full page reload; we disable analytics persistence, person profiles, IP capture, geolocation enrichment, and session recording. Accepting optional analytics permits additional product events with the same memory-only configuration. Browser Do Not Track signals disable PostHog capture.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking.

Why we collect it

• Run the site — delivery, error debugging, spam prevention.
• Improve the content — which comparisons do people read? Which pages confuse visitors? Answers help us write better reviews.
• Send what you asked for — newsletter emails or reply to your question.

How we share it

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the site:

• Vercel — web hosting.
• PostHog — analytics.
• Resend / email provider — transactional and newsletter email delivery.

We do not sell your data, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. We will disclose information only if legally required (subpoena, court order) or to prevent imminent harm.

How long we keep it

• Analytics events: up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then permanently removed within 30 days.
• Contact form submissions: up to 24 months, then deleted unless part of an ongoing conversation.

Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.
• Request a copy of data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Opt out of analytics (browser "Do Not Track" signals are respected where supported).

You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

PostHog analytics uses page memory, not cookies or persistent browser identifiers. We save your optional analytics choice in local storage so you do not have to choose again on every visit. Declining optional analytics leaves anonymous page-view and outbound-click counts enabled; Do Not Track disables PostHog capture.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

STRStack is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for subscribers, note the change in the next newsletter.
