What we collect

Information you give us directly

• Email address, when you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us. Used only to send content you signed up for and to reply to your message.
• Free-text feedback, when you email or submit a contact form. Used only to respond and, anonymously, to improve our coverage.

Information collected automatically

When you visit STRStack, we log:

• Standard request data: IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page.
• Product analytics events via PostHog — anonymized page views, click events, and session timing, used to understand which reviews are useful and which are not. PostHog is configured with cookie-free session tracking where possible.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking.

Why we collect it

• Run the site — delivery, error debugging, spam prevention.
• Improve the content — which comparisons do people read? Which pages confuse visitors? Answers help us write better reviews.
• Send what you asked for — newsletter emails or reply to your question.

How we share it

We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the site:

• Vercel — web hosting.
• PostHog — analytics.
• Resend / email provider — transactional and newsletter email delivery.

We do not sell your data, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. We will disclose information only if legally required (subpoena, court order) or to prevent imminent harm.

How long we keep it

• Analytics events: up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
• Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then permanently removed within 30 days.
• Contact form submissions: up to 24 months, then deleted unless part of an ongoing conversation.

Your rights

Regardless of where you live, you can:

• Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.
• Request a copy of data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Opt out of analytics (browser "Do Not Track" signals are respected where supported).

If you are in the EU/UK (GDPR / UK GDPR)

You additionally have the right to object to processing, restrict processing, and lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Our lawful basis for processing analytics is legitimate interest (running and improving the site); our lawful basis for newsletter email is explicit consent.

If you are in California (CCPA / CPRA)

You have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, to delete it, and to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies:

• Functional: to remember preferences (e.g., theme).
• Analytics: PostHog anonymous session identifiers.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

STRStack is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we materially change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for subscribers, note the change in the next newsletter.
