How we review STR software

How tools are chosen

We choose tools for their relevance to host workflows, including property management, pricing, guest communication, and turnover operations. We consider both STR-specific products and broader tools that may serve hosts. Coverage priorities include reader demand and useful comparisons within a category. The catalog is not an exhaustive list of every provider.

An affiliate program is not a condition of inclusion. Tools with and without affiliate relationships are subject to the same review criteria.

What we check

• First-party pricing and dates. Check the provider's pricing pages and official documentation for plan names, currency, billing period, listing limits, minimums, booking fees, setup charges, and paid add-ons. Quote-only or unclear prices should be described as such, rather than filled in with estimates.
• Features and integrations. Use official product pages, help documentation, and integration directories to check what is supported. Distinguish a direct integration from calendar sync or a third-party connection, and note plan restrictions where documented. A listed integration alone does not establish its reliability or depth.
• Fit by portfolio size. Consider how pricing, setup effort, channel coverage, and team workflows suit a small host, a growing portfolio, or a larger management business. Listing count is a starting point; business model and existing tools also matter.
• Tradeoffs and uncertainty. Explain who may benefit and who should look elsewhere. When a material claim cannot be verified, our standard is to remove it or state the uncertainty.

What the dates and verdicts mean

“Pricing checked” shows the recorded date of a pricing-source check, when one is available. It does not guarantee that the price is still current. “Updated” is the content update date and does not mean that every price or feature was rechecked that day. If there is no pricing-check date, do not assume the price was recently verified.

Verdicts and portfolio-fit labels are editorial judgments, not customer star ratings or measured performance scores. A vendor's published claim is not the same as an independently tested result. We do not claim hands-on testing unless the review identifies what was tested and the scope of that work.

Check the linked sources on pricing and integration pages, and confirm current terms with the provider before buying. Older reviews may have different source coverage; a review date alone is not proof that it meets every part of this standard.

Our correction process is to check the evidence, update or remove unsupported claims, and update the relevant check date only when that information is actually rechecked. A correction request does not give a vendor approval over our verdict.
